Gir National Park
Gir National Park, located 76 km southeast of Junagadh in Gujarat, is a paradise for wildlife lovers. This is the only location in the world where Asiatic lions can be seen in their natural habitat. Gir National Park is also home to a variety of other rare species, including leopards, antelopes, large deer, gazelles, and wild boars. Nearby, the Kamleshwar Dam offers the opportunity to watch wild crocodiles and birds in a peaceful setting. Historically, a small tribe once lived in this area, though they were relocated, and some of their descendants still live in the surrounding wilderness. The ideal time to visit the national park is from December to April.
Somnath Temple
The Somnath temple, located on the western coast of Gujarat, is considered one of the holiest pilgrimage sites by the Hindu community. As the first of the twelve Jyotirlingas (representations of Lord Shiva), it holds great significance and is visited by hundreds of worshippers daily. The ideal time to visit is from October to March when the city hosts its most important events. According to legend, the Moon God himself built the original temple using gold, but it has been reconstructed several times using silver, sandalwood, and stones by various rulers. There is no entry fee for visitors.
Dwarka
Located in Gujarat, Dwarka is one of the oldest cities and holds immense religious significance as the legendary home of Lord Krishna. It is a major pilgrimage destination for Hindus. The Dwarkadhish temple, situated near the Gomti River, is the most renowned site in the city. Across the river, Panchtirth is another popular spot to visit. Near Gomti Ghat, you'll also find one of the oldest lighthouses in Gujarat. A boat ride from Dwarka takes you to Bet Dwarka, where the Rukmini Devi and Hanuman temples await.
